With ongoing regulatory change across Europe, there’s no slowdown when it comes to customs developments impacting the sporting goods and play sectors. Significant reforms are on the horizon, with the EU’s proposed customs overhaul and evolving approaches to low value imports in both the EU and UK set to reshape how goods move across borders.

This session explores U.S. tariff changes affecting sporting goods imports, strategies for UK exporters, Low Value Import reforms, potential £135 threshold changes, and practical customs broker management guidance to help businesses reduce compliance risks, control costs, and navigate evolving international trade requirements more effectively.

“With the Prime Minister calling a General Election on 4th July, the Civil Service, including HMRC, has very much withdrawn all but essential engagement with trade, and that has essentially limited conversation to the implementation of CDS for Export and NCTS 5. This session covers UK trade developments including Low Value Consignment Relief, US tariff rulings, Developing Countries Trading Scheme changes, the India Free Trade Agreement, and Northern Ireland updates, helping members understand implications for imports, duties, compliance, and wider international trade operations affecting their businesses.

This session covers low value import developments across the US, EU and UK, customs intermediary standards, DCTS regime changes, and updates on India Free Trade Agreement rules, helping businesses understand evolving international trade requirements, parcel movements, customs compliance obligations, and potential impacts on import and export operations.

We will explore the potential change in Government priorities and look at some of the constraints the new Government will be working under, and how a change in ideology could impact the Government’s approach.

More widely, the UK will shortly accede to the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the election of President Trump is likely to alter the trading relationship between the UK and the US.
