The second of the FSPA’s seminars on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is taking place on Thursday 12 April in Manchester after being postponed due to the recent bad weather. The event is free to FSPA members.

The new laws governing how we all deal with the information we hold on employees, customers and members are set to take place in May, taking over the old rules on data protection.

Director of General Affairs, Jane Montgomery, says: “Our seminars are in response to members’ calls for information on this complex subject. From 25 May 2018 all organisations that hold personal data will have to adhere to the new laws.

“The way we use data has changed largely due to the growth of the internet, so much so that old data protection rules are no longer fit for purpose. So, no matter how big or small your business, GDPR sets legal requirements which will apply to you with penalties for non-compliance.

“There’s no doubt that GDPR can seem daunting. This seminar will set out the steps that businesses should take now to prepare for the implementation of GDPR and the outline the rights of employees and customers.”

Manchester’s GDPR seminar takes place at the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club at 10am followed by a networking lunch. “Our speakers are experts in the field,” explains Jane. “Representatives from Oracle Digital, Croner and ReThink Media will walk you through exactly what you need to do to be compliant so that your business is GDPR-fit for May.”
